Netflix Planning More ‘Arrested Development’

The return of Arrested Development earlier this year was met with excitement and criticism. Fans loved seeing their favorite characters once more, but many complained the show’s new structure (focusing on a different member each episode) was a change for the worse. Netflix never revealed just how many logged on to stream the show’s new season when it returned, but word from Reuters this morning claims there will soon be more AD on the horizon.

While speaking at an industry conference hosted by The Wrap recently, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos claimed there was “no question” whether or not Arrested Development would return to Netflix either as a new series of episodes or a movie. He added, “It is just a matter of when and what form it takes.”

Arrested Development originally premiered on Fox in 2006. The show lasted for three seasons before being cancelled, but thanks to continuous demand from fans was brought back in May of this year for a fourth season released exclusively on Netflix. It is one of four ‘original’ properties the streaming service plans to expand in the months ahead, including second seasons for House Of Cards, Hemlock Grove, and Orange Is The New Black.

As much as I would love to see another run of episodes from AD, I think a movie is far more likely at this point. Comment below and let us know what you think will happen when Arrested Development (eventually) returns.
